Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the team practice and play games?
We will be holding tryouts for Fall 2023 at the Purdue IM fields and our home field for the 2023-24 season is currently TBD.
What is the typical schedule for practices?
We usually practice twice a week. When we are inside the TREC we have one weeknight practice and one weekend practice. When outside, we have two weeknight practices.
What is the typical schedule for games?
Most games are played in a three game weekend series. Typically, this is a doubleheader on Saturday (7 inning games) and a 9 inning game on Sunday. We also play in a tournament or two every year. This adds up to about 20-25 games per year.
What teams do you play against?
We play in the Great Lakes South Conference of the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The conference includes Illinois, Illinois State, Notre Dame, Ball State, and Indiana. We play conference opponents every year. We have played non-conference games against many schools including Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Louisville.
What equipment do I need?
We have a team set of bats, helmets, and catchers gear. We will also provide hats, jerseys, black pants, gold stirrups, and a gold belt. Players must have their own glove, cleats, white baseball pants, gray baseball pants, black socks, and black belt. For tryouts, players need to have a glove and athletic shoes at minimum.
How much are dues?
Semester dues can vary depending on expected club expenses. They are typically around $300 for returning members and $350 for new members. The additional cost for new members covers the cost of the white jersey and other uniform items that players get to keep. Payment plans are available under special circumstances if a player is unable to pay in full.
Can I join the team if I intend to try out for the varsity team?
Yes! If players intend to try out for the varsity team, they will not be required to pay dues until varsity tryout results are announced.
Can I join the team if I don’t have a car on campus?
Yes! Rides are always available for any team event including tryouts.
How can I make a donation to the club?
Thank you so much for helping us out! If you are interested in donating please contact Fundraising Officer Jacob Perrone at jperron@purdue.edu. We also participate in Purdue Day of Giving each year which is an easy way to donate to student orgs at Purdue!
